System of a Down – Toxicity – Drum Cover (Cobus Potgeiter)
Place this track where it belongs in the Remix Chart, Mashup Chart or Covers Chart.
This guy, Cobus Potgeiter, hasn’t got the most common of names, but neither has he a common talent: his drumming skill is pretty tight!
Here, Cobus shows us how to drum along to Toxicity by System of a Down.
In his own words, this isn’t really a ‘cover’ strictly speaking as he does much improvisation (more impressive in any case, don’t you think) and moves pretty far from the (lack of) drumming in the original SOAD recording.
Whatever the ins and outs might be, this is a very enjoyable noise- so rate how good you think this System of a Down drum cover is…
Do we need a new category for drum covers, too: leave a comment.

This was cool!
Great video editing. How does he eliminate the original drummer from the track? Or is it still under there somewhere.
Cool as eh bro? Choice.
Hi Bill,
as far as I know the original drumming is buried under there (I remember him saying he didn’t get stem files or use a multitrack, so I’d assume he literally plays over it!): not 100% sure either way though
there really needs to be a drum cover section (or drum and bass, drum remix or drumstep). there are a lot of songs i only listen to cause of the drum cover. like this video: luke holland-starry eyed
